50 Minutes

6 People

Ingredients

1 cup of split white peas (Pre-soaked for 8 hours or over night)
3 cloves of garlic (crushed or grated)
1/2 grated onion
Spices (onion powder, garlic powder, bbq spice, garam masala, oregano, turmeric and salt to taste)
Corn flour

Directions

Boil the pre-soaked white peas for 40 minutes then set aside and allow to cool.

In a large mixing bowl mash the boiled peas until smooth.

Add spices, onions, garlic, and corn flour to the mashed peas and mix thoroughly.

Take a scoop of the mix and roll it into a ball using your hands then flatten it into a patty using a flat surface or by pressing it down. Do this until the mix is finished.

Refrigerate the patties for an hour then fry them using canola oil for about three minutes on each side or until golden brown.

Assemble your burger adding your preferred toppings and sauce. I had mine with just a little lettuce but lots of cheese!

TIP

Butter and toast your burger bun for more flavour.
